The lake, not a swimming-pool promise
Lake Catani is a high plateau lake in snow-gum woodland. In the warm months it is the park’s swim and canoe spot; it is still a natural water body with shallow and deep sections, cold water and alpine weather. Follow Parks Victoria water-safety advice. There is no lifeguard.
The Lakeside Day Visitor Area has a picnic shelter overlooking the water, accessible toilets and free gas barbecues. It is a good Plan B if The Horn carpark is full or Horn Road is closed.
Camping systems (split from day entry)
Day entry to the park is free. Camping is a completely separate official system. Summer/green season is roughly Melbourne Cup weekend (early November) to the end of April — book at bookings.parks.vic.gov.au. Winter (Friday before King’s Birthday to the end of August) is free walk-in camping with almost no facilities. Shoulder months are closed.
We do not list nightly rates here. Parks Victoria’s high-category unpowered schedule and any Victorian half-price camping policy apply on the live booking page — [VERIFY dollar figures there, never on this site].
