Gear essentials for Mount Buffalo
Guide updated · kit ideas only — verify conditions with Parks Victoria
Alpine weather is not Bright café weather. Prioritise grip, water, layers and rain protection over gadgets. The Gorge and The Horn are windier and colder than the valley; granite gets slick after rain or mist. The Big Walk and The Horn need more water and honesty about fitness — a Gorge lookout hour still needs a shell.
